How to save money

 Now that I am a mum, I find our money doesn't last as long as it did, which makes sense, but it got me thinking about how I am managing for us to still save up to buy our own house and how other people could use my way to save money themselves.

I have made a post a while back on how to budget, which plays a key role in how I save money now. Any money we want to spend in the fortnight is accounted for in our budget.

  • After creating our budget, I work out how much money we have leftover after bills each pay.

Say we make $1,300 a week, but have to pay $1,000 a week on bills (Random numbers as an example). It would mean we have $300 leftover each week to put into savings.

  • I make a list of everything we need to buy or spend money on soon in order of urgency, and make sure that I include an overestimate price so that we are not short when it comes to needing to spend the money. I also include when we need to spend the money by in the case of appointments etc.
Take the car to the mechanic to get it fixed. $400 {30th June}
New laptop $1,500
Dress for Christmas $50 {20th December}

  • I then split whatever we have leftover in half. One half will go into a savings account to keep adding up to get a house, car, or if something comes up urgently like a medical bill, we didn't expect. The other half will go into another savings account, and that will add up to pay for whatever expenses we know are coming up.
$150 towards long term savings
$150 towards saving for expenses.

All these numbers are very much made up as just an example, but that's how I make sure we are saving our money wisely, and we are not short if something does come up because life is unexpected at times, and you never know what's going to happen.

Moving to a new country | with kids

Moving to a new country can be exciting but nerve wracking add in children and it can feel overwhelming to say the least, today I want to share all the advice and tips I have to move overseas after having just made an overseas move for myself with my two young daughters.   Mid January I moved from New Zealand back to Australia, some of you may know that I was actually born in Australia and lived over here until 2011 so for me this was about returning home but for my kids it was moving countries for the first time and while my youngest had no idea what was going on as she was only 3 months old my eldest had a range of emotions and it was honestly quite tough on her at times.   My first bit of advice is to just talk about the move, explain why you’re moving and what to expect in an age-appropriate way so that they can better understand what is going on, talk about all the positives with the move    that would interest them from new experiences to making new friend...

How to tell if you are a rebound or if the guy really likes you

Oh, the agony, you are talking to a guy, and he is giving mixed signals about if he really likes you or if he is pretending to use you as a rebound; well, I have compiled a list for both to help you work out what you really are. We have all been there at least once in our lives; you start talking to a guy, and you can not make sense about how he is really felling; there are a few telltale signs about what you are. Now rebounds are not just sleeping around; they can be emotional too. A rebound is only a relationship or relations that happen while they are still getting over there partner. 90% of rebound relationships will fall apart within three months, but how long it takes to heal from a relationship depends on how long the relationship was, the person and if the relationship was over way before it actually ended. some signs you are just a rebound are: they are totally in love with you even though you haven't known each other long your relationship moves really fast...
